The Center for Evangelical United Brethren Heritage offers an annual award to a student or scholar who submits the best paper focused on some aspect of Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) heritage.  The EUB heritage includes the history, theology, and practices of its predecessor bodies, the Evangelical Association, the Evangelical Church, and the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, as well as the wider Pietist heritage from which these bodies derive.  If a submission focuses upon the latter, it must connect explicitly to the EUB heritage.

SUBMISSIONS

A clean copy of each submission must be sent to the Center Director, accompanied by a letter of application (by the author) or nomination (by one who is not the author) for the award and evidence that the paper has been accepted for publication within the past year by a peer-reviewed, academic journal.  The paper should not be longer than twenty-five double-spaced, typed pages.  It must be properly footnoted and bear evidence of thorough and reliable handling of sources.

SELECTION

Judges for the award will consist of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Council of the Center for Evangelical United Brethren Heritage.

DEADLINE

By April 1st of each year, all competing papers must have been received by the Director of the Center for Evangelical United Brethren Heritage, United Theological Seminary, 4501 Denlinger Road, Dayton, OH. 45426.  If submitted electronically, papers should be sent to eubcenter@united.edu.

ANNOUNCEMENT AND CASH AWARD

The winning paper will be announced in the Telescope-Messenger and a cash award of $500 will be awarded to the author.

CONDITIONS

The award will be announced by May 1 each year.  The decision of the judges is final.  No award will be made if the judges determine that no submitted paper merits the award.
