Memoir Index Database

This is an index to the conference memoirs/memorials (obituaries) and Honor Rolls from the annual conference journals held by the General Commission on Archives and History. To request a memoir, or Honor Roll entry, please send the entry found in this Index along with $5 (U.S.) check, or money order, made payable to “GCAH” to the following address: Genealogy Research Service, PO Box 127, Madison, NJ 07940. The memoir can be provided by mail, or e-mail. If you would like a copy of the memoir mailed to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Search Tips

Name search by last name followed by a comma, then space and first name or initial.
Birth year or Death year begin to type the year. If you are unsure of the exact year type the first three digits of the year and the search results will be automatically limited to that decade.
Denomination is the denomination of the conference journal in which the obituary or Honor Roll was printed.
Conference is the Annual Conference to which the individual was affiliated. If they were affiliated in a lay role, or as the spouse of a minister, that will be indicated by the term “Laity” in the Conference field.
State indicates the state or country in which the individual died, if known.
Journal, Date and Page indicates the conference journal name, the year printed and the page number on which the memoir or Honor Roll is printed.
