Save the Date: May 13-15, 2025. The Peninsula-Delaware Conference Commission on Archives & History has graciously offered to host the 2025 NEJ CAH meeting in Dover, Delaware, exploring the theme: “Early Efforts by Peninsula Methodists to Dismantle Racism.”
Presentations on:
- Captain Thomas Webb, who introduced Methodism to Delaware and a congregation he founded.
- Harry Hosier, and a visit to the location of the first sermon ever preached to an all white congregation by an African American.
- Peter Spencer, who co-founded the first African American Church in Delaware, and founded the first African American Methodist Denomination three years before Richard Allen organized the AME Church.
- Thomas Garrett, Harriett Tubman, and the Underground Railroad.
- Big August Quarterly: The nation’s oldest African American Festival.
- Bishop Levi Scott, and the African American Couple who brought him to Christ.
